My little Sister was kind enough to share her story about her journey of before, during and after pregnancy. Unfortunately I have not met my little niece Olivia yet because I live in the UK and my family lives in sunny South Africa.

This post demonstrates the power of distance coaching and motivation.

Helping people from across the globe without meeting them face to face has got to be one of my favourite things to do.

Below you’ll find a little before/after video I put together illustrating my Sister’s journey in pictures and motion, followed by her story. Enjoy!

‘I was blessed with a beautiful baby girl in 2014. When I found out I was pregnant I weighed a healthy 54kg and just got married.

I loved every minute of every stage of my pregnancy and I have never felt as beautiful as I did during those 9 months. My skin was flawless, my hair was long, strong, healthy and beautiful and I managed to grow my fingernails long for the first time.

As you can imagine I am very conscious of my figure and body weight and always have been. During my school years I participated in many extra mural sports activities. I especially loved hockey and swimming. I never really had to worry about my weight.

In my Matric year however I gained 10kg and went up to 69kg. I did not feel comfortable in my own skin.

With studies and starting my first job it was difficult to maintain a healthy lifestyle.

It was only shortly before my wedding in 2013, with the help of my brother Stephan, that I managed to reach my goal of 54kg. My lifestyle change did not include a lot of training. I went back to swimming 3 times a week and started to eat half of what I normally ate and cut out all the unhealthy snacks in between. I also cut out any type of sugary drinks and stuck to drinking lots of water.

During my pregnancy I was never concerned about how much I would gain. I did not worry about stretch mark and all the other changes your body will go through during and after your pregnancy. I was just so happy to be pregnant and decided to simply listen to my body. Due to 9 months of morning sickness and a very sensitive nose to various foods I ate what was easy to keep down. I lived on fruits, cheese, chicken and ice cream.

My husband always made sure we had ice cream in the freezer.

At the end I weighed a healthy 72 kg. After 3 month of giving birth I was back down to 63 kg. I did not worry too much about my weight during the first 6 months when I was breastfeeding my baby. I drank lots of water and ice tea and ate lots of fruit and protein to keep my energy up.

When I went back to work after my maternity leave I began to get back into my old lifestyle with the help of Stephan. However, being a new tired sleep deprived mommy, going to gym was not an option.Stephan gave me a list of healthy breakfasts, lunches and dinners I should eat to get back into shape and develop more energy. He also gave me tips how to do simple everyday exercises to do at home. These are fun to do while my daughter plays around me.

These days I try to pop into gym for a swim every now and then. But my brother said the best exercise I can get is by being busy with my daughter. Running, crawling and jumping around with my daughter at home and in the garden is the best exercise any mom can get without even noticing.

It has been a year now since I gave birth and I am back to my goal weight 54kg. I am very lucky to not have suffered any stretch marks or extra flabby skin. Apparently this is mainly due to the fact that I used Bio Oil during my pregnancy and the fact that I breastfed for 6 months after my pregnancy.

I know many moms who did the same but still had stretch marks and struggling to get their flat tummy back.

I do feel very lucky.

Thank you Stephan for helping me reach my goal weight. With your help I am able to be a happy healthy energetic mom. You are a star.’*
